About the Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT)

In partnership with the University of Oxford

The Admissions Testing Service is working with the University of Oxford to assist in the administration of its Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT).

The MAT is a paper-based test. It is a 2-hour 30-minute, subject-specific admissions test for applicants to the University of Oxford’s undergraduate degree courses in Mathematics, Computer Science and their joint degrees.

The MAT is set with the aim of being approachable by all students, including those without Further Mathematics A Level (or equivalent).

The University of Oxford is responsible for the setting and development of the MAT, including the test format and scoring. For general information about the test, see the University of Oxford’s Mathematical Institute website.

The MAT takes place on 5 November 2014 at 09.00 GMT. The scheduled start times for international centres will vary, depending upon where they are in the world. Most candidates will sit the MAT at their own school or college. Other candidates can find an open centre.

Test results are not published automatically, but for the University of Oxford, candidates may request their test score as part of the usual University of Oxford feedback process.
